Prayer works. (Not being pushy, just affirming with an example.)
Computer went into full-on freakout mode – all day. Browser refreshing 19 times per minute. Can’t get much done. Think about needing a new computer.
I thought, “Full moon?” (That’s not a Twilight reference, it’s hospital staff common sense. Ask any nurse or internist – they know that tech and pets and people lose their stuff on full moon nights.)
Second thought: clear cache, reduce backlog in the storage area, check for updates. Reboot. Shut down and reboot. Repeat.
I tried ALL THE THINGS, and the software would work for an hour after a “please help” prayer, then I’d take a break and….voila. FREAKOUT! Like all the electrons in the universe were converging on my small laptop and preparing for battle. Maybe all the Moabites and Ammonites, all going for war in Engedi.
So I called for a ceasefire. “Lord, I need one hour.” Voila. Peace. (I tell you the truth, and do not lie – like the Apostle Paul in Romans 9.)
So I get on the horn with IT, and they do all the things I’ve done (all day) but the computer is peacefully humming along, letting itself be examined – and the tech does some magical thingy to reset the firewall and….
Everything back to normal. No more browser refresh freakout.
But for IT to be able to see the browser and clear cache and update the firewall, there had to be peace.
Yea verily, peace is a good and praiseworthy thing (and technology, too–when it works).
